Euronations 2008 - Antrim, Northern Ireland - Tapani Kalmaru

I was very much looking forward to this shoot, I had some new arrows that were shooting well in practice and I was scoring well but the weather eliminated all hopes of some good scores. The winds reached a high on 60mph and rain slowed the proceedings down no end, there was even a meeting to abandon the shoot. But we all shot on and finished the F.I.T.A rounds at 7.00pm. I managed to finish 4th in the individual event which was a little disappointing considering I missed out on a medal by a single 10.

The second day was equally bad, and disappointing. The day was to be a 70m qualification round and then head to heads. After the qualification rounds I was lying in a very disappointing 10th place. I managed to man up for the head to heads and worked my may though to the semi finals. I lost to the eventual winner Andy Ward 114 - 112, in that weather these scores were very acceptable. I also lost the Bronze Medal match on a one arrow shoot off to James Bingham. The match ended up 114 - 114 and the first one arrow shoot off was 10 - 10, I lost the next one arrow shoot off 10 - 7, the wind caught me on release but I was not too disappointed because James is a good friend and deserved to win a medal after his superb shooting through out the weekend.
